3 Lifestyle Factors As Constipation Remedies

The way we live can have such a huge impact on our overall health. Our lifestyle can make us really healthy, where we feel good and function properly. Or it can cause us to become sick, and unproductive.

The same can be said about our digestive system. There are certain lifestyle factors, that can play a huge role in maintaining healthy regularity and act as general constipation remedies.

In this article, we’ll take a look at three lifestyle factors that can help you stay fit and regular.

1) Physical Activity

Remember way back when kids went outside to play? They ran, jumped, climbed trees, and played sports – outside. Nowadays, children of all ages are into electronic stimulation.

Computers, video games, and cable television are fun, and we as a society love them. But these little objects of fun can have a negative side if left unchecked. They can (and do for some) lead to a lazy and sedentary lifestyle.

A sedentary lifestyle is a major cause of constipation. Sitting around all day can make your bowels sluggish and constipated.

On the contrary, exercise encourages peristalsis (bowel contractions that moves stool along), shortens transit time for waste, and limits the amount of water that gets reabsorbed from the colon, back into the body. Physical movement is one the best known constipation remedies.

2) Eating Right

Your parents probably made you eat your fruits and vegetables growing up, and they were right to do so! There are a lot of foods that we enjoy, that are just terrible for our digestive system. Processed foods, refined foods, sugary, salty junk foods all tend to clog up our systems.

As a general rule, we should be eating whole, natural, fresh foods that are unrefined. Foods that are high in fiber can be great constipation remedies – and great for daily maintenance.

3) Drinking Plenty of Plain Water

One of the main causes for constipation is having a dry stool. Inadequate water intake is the main reason for this problem. Try to drink plenty of plain (not sugared) water each and every day. A good rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces.

For Example:

If your body weight is 150 pounds – then you should try to drink 75 ounces of plain water each day.

Drinking plenty of water each day is good for your overall health, and one of the greatest constipation remedies.
